  1. Arms
    1. Arms short, thick. Arm formula: III=>IV>II=>I.
    2. Arms without obvious aboral keels or protective membranes.
    3. All arm suckers globular with smooth inner rings.
    4. Moderately deep web joins arms all arms but arms IV.
    5. Arms I-III with biserial suckers; arms IV with suckers irregularly arranged near tips; more pronounced in males.

  2. Tentacles
    1. Tentacular clubs short, curved without protective membranes.
    2. Tentacular organ present.
    3. Club suckers diminish is size at proximal and distal ends of club.
    4. Suckers number approximately 18-22 across middle of club.

  3. Head
    1. Eyes large, about 40-45% of ML.
    2. Secondary ventral eyelid present overlapping cornea.
    3. Short, broad nuchal cartilage protrudes from skin.

  4. Funnel
    1. Funnel component of the funnel/mantle locking-apparatus with elongate, slightly curved groove. Mantle component with strongly curved,  slender ridge that terminates anteriorly in slight depression.
    2. Lateral funnel adductors present; attach to funnel near anterior end of funnel locking-apparatus.
    3. Dorsal pad of funnel organ with inverted V-shape bearing large medial ridge and terminal papilla. Ventral pads large and oval.
    4. Funnel valve present.

  5. Mantle
    1. Ventral shield about 40% of ventral mantle length.
    2. Anterior ventral margin of mantle slightly excavated.

  6. Fins
    1. Fins with curved posterior lobes.
    2. Anterior fin attachment about 50% of ML behind middorsal mantle margin.

    1. Large (ca. 35% of ML) visceral photophore present.
