Types

Syntypes, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 20519 (male I, 3 male II, 4 female), Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts 7348 (male I, male II, 3 female).

Type Locality

Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.

Range

From the Savannah and Ochlockonee basins in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida westward into Mississippi and northward through Tennessee into the Green watershed in Kentucky.

Habitat

Streams and burrows (primary burrower in the southern part of the range).
